I am a Ph.D. student at the department of Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Science. My research interest is centered in the field of computational materials science for discovery of two dimensional (2D) materials and other novel functional materials with application to energy storage and conversion, and gas sensor.
I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering and Master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering at Jimma University, Ethiopia. I did my Master’s thesis under the supervision of Dr. Tekalign Terfa and Dr. Mulualem Abebe.
Alongside my professional activities, I love spending time with friends, reading fiction books and watching movies.
I have been involved with the following publications during my tenure with the group so far.
- Exploration of NaSICON frameworks as calcium-ion battery electrodes
- Fluoride Frameworks as Potential Calcium Battery Cathodes
- Topochemical Modulations from 1D Iron Fluoride Precursor to 3D Frameworks
- Accuracy of metaGGA functionals in describing transition metal fluorides
- Geometry-based Discovery of Calcium Battery Cathodes Accelerated by Foundational Machine-Learned Models
